Consulting
Corbin Links – Strategic Business IT and Identity Management Consultant
When people ask me “what do you do?” I generally toss in a title and a general description. Something like “I help businesses and other consultants cut through all the red tape and get projects done.” Or, “I help IT consultants deliver BIG Results to their clients.” Complex integrations, fixing “troubled projects” and delivering seminars and training sessions are also specialities. But that’s just where our conversation starts.
To see the types of projects I do or have done, please check out the projects page. Extended BIOs are available on LinkedIn and IAMSuccessTips.com. If you’re visiting this page, you may be wondering “what can Corbin do for me and how can I hire him?” To answer, I should start by talking about my two primary types of consulting.
Two Streams of Consulting
In my consulting life, I generally serve two primary types of clients. Business-to-Business, or “B2B”, in which I consult directly to large companies and Business-to-Consultant or “B2C” which involves consulting directly to other consultants or consulting companies. Yes, they are essentially both business-to-business, but each is a different type of market and market focus. Some of my “B2C” consulting work involves consulting to small companies of one or two consultants.
Stream 1 – Business-to-Business
B2B projects include, but are not limited to:
- Identity and Access Management Programs and Project Management
- Design of Global Enterprise-grade Systems and Infrastructure
- Systems Automation
- Business Process Management
- Internal Seminars and Customized Training Delivery
- Vendor Analysis and Negotiation
- Proof of Concept (POC) Work
- Website Analytics
- Website and Application Performance Testing
- Application Security Reviews and Audits
- Computer and Digital Privacy
- And “Other Duties as Required” (one of my favorite business terms!)
Stream 2 – Business-to-Consultant / Business-to-Independent
This is a steadily growing division of our business, and a key focus of my consulting practice. I consult in the areas of:
- Developing and Increasing Productivity and Efficiency
- Time Management Training
- Developing Custom Client Acquisition and Retention Plans
- Self Publishing
- Creation and Sale of Information Products
- Website Application Testing and Tuning
- Website Analytics
- How to Consult and Form a Consulting Company
- How to Increase Consulting Revenues
- Training and Presentation Delivery
- Computer and Digital Privacy
- And Occasional “Custom” Projects
Rates, Fees, Contract Types and Terms
“B2B” Rates
Rates vary and are determined on a number of factors such as:
- Amount and type of travel required
- Onsite time requirements (how much time a client needs me to spend on their premises)
- Type of project
- Duration of the project
- Location of the project
- Links Business Group LLC’s current project load and resource availability
- My bandwidth to do the project
- My professional ethics do not allow me to take on any new projects that I cannot deliver.
- Interest in and reference-ability of the project
“B2C” Rates
- B2C Rates are $300/hour, excluding travel.
- Two-hour minimum, scheduled and delivered remotely at mutually agreed times. (Phone / email / Skype, etc.)
- Custom plans and retainers are available for established clients.
Contract Types, Terms, Payment Types and Delivery
- B2B contracts are always corp-to-corp.
- B2B contracts always require an up-front payment to secure resources. Generally, the model is:
- 25% down
- 50% at mid-point delivery
- 25% on final delivery
- Hourly billing is available for established clients with longer-term projects
- B2C contracts are informal for individuals (company to individual, standard abbreviated service contract) and corp-to-corp for incorporated consulting firms.
- One-on-one working with individuals requires minimal paperwork and advance payment.
- One-on-one payments are processed via PayPal or Google Checkout. (Your choice.)
Delivery
- What is delivered depends on the project. It could be a document or series of documents, a successful technology implementation, delivery of a training seminar or many other things. We’ll work that out when we discuss your project.
- “B2B” services are delivered partially (or fully) remote, with some strategic time spent on the client site. “B2C” services are *always delivered remotely* via phone, email, chat, or other agreed methods.
